A good DPF cleaning company must have at least 5 years of successful cleaning experience. They can also determine if the DPF is in fact damaged internally. A mechanic can test the DPF on the vehicle to determine if it is blocked. They cannot confirm if the DPF is collapsed or melted internally creating the blockage.
I have my DPF filter and engine light on in my 2018 Mitsubishi Triton. What are the most common causes? I do a lot off motorway and highway driving and very little city running. DPF technology is fast becoming the bane of turbo-diesel owners. The filter is designed to trap some of the nasty exhaust emissions of a diesel engine and then automatically burn them off at high temperature
if you look at page 65, you can see that when the soot builds up too much from short trips, the DPF lamp will light. if the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) that looks like a little engine is lit, and you first post says there is some sensor problem, the issue could be that a sensor is not working.
If unsuccessful, the ECU will try and repeat this process for a further 15 minutes. If the filter is still clogged, the DPF light on the driver display panel will then be lit. If the owner is lucky, simply driving at a constant speed of at least 60 km/h for about 10 minutes will solve the problem.
I bought a new campervan in September 2017 on a T6 T28 Euro 6 102 hp transporter and had the dreaded engine management light come on 300 miles from home, after 18000 miles, mainly 70mph driving on motorways. VW Assist mechanic said it was the EGR valve so took it to VW Vans Wrexham who flushed it through.
The results can be severe: loss of oil quality and a higher oil level. This may damage and even destroy the engine. Fixing failed regeneration . In a first stage, the DPF warning light goes on. In most cases, driving for 10 minutes at 65 km/h (about 40 mph) or faster will ensure proper regeneration. ‘Forced’ regeneration
I've been having to swap my 2013 VW Golf TDI every day with my dad since his car is in the shop and he said the DPF light came on again. We just got…
During both active and passive regenerations the EGT jumps up to between 1200 and 1500 degrees F. for about 5 to 10 minutes. These high EGTs are the reason many people do not shut down their engine during a regen. These temperatures are high enough that they might do harm to the turbocharger.
